The Still Point of the Dance
A 5-Day Mindfulness and Biodanza Retreat
27 April - 1 May 2012

At the still point of the turning world. Neither flesh nor fleshless; Neither from nor towards; at the still point, there the dance is, But neither arrest nor movement. And do not call it fixity, Where past and future are gathered. Neither movement from nor towards, Neither ascent nor decline. Except for the point, the still point, There would be no dance, and there is only the dance.
TS Elliot

The Still Point of the Dance Retreat is a journey, an intimate conversation with what is Here, Now and the skillful, patient and non-judgemental working with that which inhibits this encounter. Weaving together the practices of Mindfulness and Biodanza, movement and stillness, doing and being, we will co-create a tapestry in which this deeper conversation can be explored.

The spirit of this retreat is to cultivate a deepening Silence through both formal mindfulness practices and mindfulness in our daily activities. Onto this foundation we will integrate mindful movement and connection.

Mindfulness is a practice which is cultivated through attending, with sensitivity, to that which arises in the present moment.

Biodanza is a dance-movement system of human development which unfolds our potential through connectivity to ourselves, each other and the world we inhabit.

No meditation or dance experience is required to attend this retreat but a willingness to explore these in depth and to work with what arises is necessary.

The retreat will include:

  • ·      Sitting meditation
    ·      Body scanning
    ·      Mindful movement and dance
    ·      Walking meditation
    ·      Enquiry (a facilitated, gentle verbal exploration of our inward experience)
    ·      Eating meditation
    ·      Periods of Noble silence
    ·      Mindfulness in daily activity
    ·      A theoretical talk on the integration of Mindfulness and Biodanza as it pertains to
           attunement and   connection.
